Employment Hiring Process

Application & Written Test

Upon submission of your online application, eligible candidates will be required to schedule a rigorous 50-question multiple-choice written test. This test covers a wide range of topics including medical procedures, laws, and emergency protocols. It is highly recommended that applicants familiarize themselves with the protocols before taking the test. The test can be taken at our EMS Headquarters office or through online video conferencing.

Practical Exam

The practical exam will assess your ability to handle medical and trauma scenarios based on national registry criteria.

Interview

An interview with the Chief of EMS and potentially other members of the management team is mandatory. Applicants must prepare insightful questions in advance.

Medical Evaluation

Successful applicants must undergo a standard pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Physical Agility Assessment

A pass-or-fail physical agility assessment will be conducted based on actual EMS duties to ensure safety compliance.

Pre-Employment Onboarding

Pre-employment onboarding includes scheduling various required screenings, such as the physical agility assessment, medical evaluation, background check, and uniform sizing/ordering, among other tasks.

The four-day orientation is mandatory, and candidates must arrive prepared in uniform and complete all onboarding requirements beforehand. Following orientation, individuals will start their assigned shifts.

Throughout the employment probationary period, employees will undergo regular reviews to monitor progress and ensure successful integration. Administrative reviews must be attended at 30-day intervals. This process is critical to assess and facilitate the seamless assimilation of new employees.
