On Thursday, January 28, 2021 the Gloucester County Mega Site was operating smoothly with the State’s New Jersey Vaccine Scheduling System (NJVSS). Around 10 a.m., their system glitched and we had to begin operating our backup system.
This backup system has been used since opening our site and we have never had any issues or concerns. Our backup system reports directly into New Jersey Immunization Information System (NJIIS) so no patient is jeopardized of getting 2nd dose.
The State’s NJVSS began working again around 1 p.m. and we continued operations.
We began getting reports from staff that individuals were trying to scan into their appointment with their State QR code and receiving an error. It was then reported that individuals already onsite were receiving emails from the State with appointment cancelations rendering their QR codes useless. This then allowed open appointments to be filled with new individuals through NJVSS. Therefore, creating a double booking of appointments.
Now for every one vaccine we have, we have two individuals with appointments.
The Gloucester County Mega Site is now dealing with yet another catastrophe we did not create. This did not deter us from serving the public.
It is unclear if there is intended interference or just poor systems installed. Either way, we are secure in our ways to make this site thrive.
