[ARCHIVED] Join Gloucester County for special pickleball event

(Sewell, NJ)—Gloucester County Board of Commissioners in partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation will host “Picklenic,” a special event for pickleball players.

“Pickleball is taking over as the fastest growing sport in America. Atkinson Park is home to six gorgeous pickleball courts and they have been put to great use since we unveiled them,” said Director Frank J. DiMarco.

The Picklenic will be held of Saturday, May 14 at 9 a.m. at James G. Atkinson Park. Tennis courts will be converted into additional pickleball courts. There will be 14 courts available and attendees are encouraged to sign up prior to the event.

“This event is a way for us to continue to foster the great community that has come from opening Pickleball courts at Atkinson Park,” said Commissioner Jim Jefferson. “We encourage individuals interested in learning to play pickleball to stop by and watch the games. Everyone is very helpful and willing to teach new players.”

Picklenic will be full of fun and feature prizes, giveaways, trophies for winners and ice cream for all.

9 a.m.– 11:30 a.m.

Open Play

11:30 a.m.– 1:30 p.m

Pickleball & Live Music

Picnic Lunch (Please bring your own!) 

1:30 p.m. 

Mystery Mixed Troubles Tourney - Names will be pulled out of a hat to determine mixed partners.

1:45 p.m.– 3 p.m.
