(Clayton, NJ)—The Gloucester County Animal Shelter (GCAS) is open to help Gloucester County families find their new furry friends and is making it more affordable than ever with reduced adoption fees.
The shelter is discounting adoption fees for the animals at the shelter. Animals 6 years old and younger will have their adoption fees reduced to $35. Dogs and cats 6 years and older will have their adoption fees completely waived.
“We love connecting our animals to loving homes, and offering these discounts will get them with their forever homes without the burden of costly adoption fees,” said Director Robert M. Damminger.
GCAS is still limiting access to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The shelter will now be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. while adoption hours are by appointment only Tuesday through Saturday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Throughout the pandemic, Gloucester County residents have found animals to welcome into their families and find a forever home.
Any Gloucester County resident interested in adopting from GCAS can call (856) 881-2828 ext. 1 for adoptions. You can also fill out an adoption application online at www.gloucestercountynj.gov and a staff member will contact you with an appointment time.
Deputy Director Frank J. DiMarco, liaison to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter, said, “Adoption from the Gloucester County Animal Shelter is typically much less expensive than adopting from a private source. During the spring the shelter always sees an increase in animals, and this fee reduction could help motivate people who are looking to adopt."
The shelter is also offering the Pet Food Pantry to help assist any Gloucester County pet owner struggling to feed their pets due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pet owners can visit the Pet Food Pantry to pick up pet food for their dogs and cats.
If any Gloucester County resident is in need of food please call the shelter to confirm availability and schedule a time for pickup at (856) 881-2828 ext. 3.
