The Gloucester County Animal Shelter (GCAS) is open to help Gloucester County families find their new furry friends and take them home.

GCAS has limited access to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for administration and animal control. Adoption hours are by appointment only Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday & Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Any Gloucester County resident interested in adopting from GCAS can call (856) 881-2828 ext. 1 for adoptions. You can also fill out an adoption application online at www.gloucestercountynj.gov and a staff member will contact you with an appointment time.

“It’s our top priority to get our animals into loving forever homes. We will make sure you’re comfortable with you choice and ready to take your pet back to your family,” said Director Robert M. Damminger.

Animals are still adoptable at a discounted price. The shelter is still discounting adoption fees for the animals at the shelter. Animals 6 years old and younger will have their adoption fees reduced to $35. Dogs and cats 6 years and older will have their adoption fees completely waived.

The shelter currently has 37 animals available for adoption including 24 cats, 9 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, 1 hamster and 1 pig.

“We receive updates from so many individuals who found animals at the shelter that are now a part of their family,” said Deputy Director Frank J. DiMarco.

One pup, Gizmo, left the shelter 5 years ago with his new family. “He is now 15 years old. He is such so spoiled and a joy. Love him dearly."
