County Memorial Day Ceremony to be held on Sunday, May 29

(Monroe Twp., NJ) – Director Frank J. DiMarco and Commissioner Denice DiCarlo will hold the Annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Sunday, May 29 at 1 p.m. at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Wreaths will be placed to honor fallen comrades during the hour-long ceremony that will conclude with a rifle salute and TAPS. 

Director Frank J. DiMarco said, “We invite everyone to come and pay respect to our servicemen and women who have given so much for our country on Memorial Day.  It is a day to honor our heroes.” 

Commissioner Denice DiCarlo, Liaison to Veterans Affairs, said that Friday, May 27 at 5:00 p.m. volunteers will gather to mark the graves of the veterans interred in at Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.  Anyone wishing to help place flags can meet at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. 

Commissioner DiCarlo said, “Marking the graves of those who served our country is the most fitting way to start the Memorial Day weekend. This year we will be placing over 3,000 American Flags.”  

The ceremony on Sunday is open to everyone and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and arrive early. More than 500 veterans, friends and family attend this event. The ceremony is held rain or shine.    

Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 240 South Tuckahoe Road, Monroe Township. Parking will be available onsite.
