Dog Park Opened at Gloucester County DREAM Park
(Logan, NJ) - Horses will not be the only animals who are 'regulars' to the Gloucester County DREAM Park now that the county opened a new Dog Park. Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney cut the ribbon to the new Dog Park today so that the county's residents have a dedicated space for their dogs to run and interact with others in a dedicated environment.
"When we opened the DREAM Park we made a commitment that we would have a Dog Park here also. I have been asked for years to build a dog park and the people who love their pets are very committed their wellbeing and having a safe place to recreate," said Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney. "I really wanted to fulfill that promise to our dog owners. Gloucester County has an active 4-H Dog Club, Kennel Club and other dog organizations," Sweeney stated.
Sweeney said, "We have accomplished this Dog Park without any cost to the taxpayers and it offers a whole new dynamic to the DREAM Park. Soil Safe Inc, of Logan donated the fencing for the Park and we are grateful to have such a great corporate neighbor."
The Gloucester County Dog Park at the DREAM Park is currently in a temporary location until access can be gained to a larger parcel of land that was originally slated for the Dog Park. This park features two fenced areas: a Small Dog Park for dogs less than 25 pounds that is 58' X 180'; and a Large Dog Park that is 60' X 214'.
The Gloucester County Dog Park will be open during daylight hours. Dog owners are required to clean up after their dogs and remain with their dog(s) at all times. Dogs must have current rabies shots and all other vaccines as required by State of New Jersey law and wear a collar displaying valid licenses. A complete list of rules is posted at the Dog Park at the DREAM Park and at www.dreamparknj.com.
