10th Annual Gloucester County Military Service Medal Ceremony This Saturday

(Washington Twp., NJ )- The Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders will hold the 10th Annual Military Service Medal Ceremony this Saturday, September 25, 2010 at The TD Arts Centre (next to Washington Township High School) at 519 Hurffville-Cross Keys Road, Sewell. The ceremony begins at 9:00 am. "It is an honor to present the Military Service Medal to our veterans and to have the opportunity to say thank you. After Saturday's ceremony more than 4,800 Gloucester County Military Service Medals will have been presented since Gloucester County commissioned this medal in 2001," said Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney. Gloucester County will be presenting 106 Military Service Medals at Saturday's ceremony. The County's Military Service Medal was designed and commissioned by the Board of Freeholders in 2001 for all Gloucester County Veterans who have served on active duty in the military and received an honorable discharge. Freeholder Giuseppe (Joe) Chila said, "The medal is a small gesture to thank you our veterans and let them know that their service is appreciated. We live in the greatest nation on earth due to their love of country and their sacrifices." Freeholder Chila is the Liaison to the County Office Veterans Affairs. The ceremony is open to the public and should last approximately one hour. A list of the recipients is attached.
