Gloucester County's Treasurer & CFO Named Finance Officer of the Year
(Woodbury, NJ) - Gloucester County's Treasurer & CFO Gary Schwarz has recently been named Finance Officer of the Year by the New Jersey Association of County Finance Officers.
Schwarz of Washington Township has served as President of the Association for the last two years and has been a member of the executive committee since 2004. He has chaired the Association's legislative committee, communicating county financial concerns to the State Senate and Assembly budget committee chairs.
"Gary has served as Gloucester County with distinction since 1985 and became our Treasurer and CFO in 2007 when we combined the two positions," said Director Sweeney. Prior to serving in the combined capacity of Treasurer and CFO, Schwarz was the County's Budget Officer and Deputy Treasurer since 1987.
"Gary is a respected and important member of our administrative team and we are proud that he has been selected by his peers in the state to receive this honor," Sweeney said.
The New Jersey Association of County Finance Officers consists of over 130 members including County Finance Officers in the 21 counties and their staff, associate members that provide a service to the members and education members seeking continuing education units to maintain their certification as Certified County Finance Officers (CCFO's).
The Association’s members provide state legislative bodies with accurate and helpful information for the development of sound legislation affecting the counties, monitor proposed legislation and represent its members at legislative hearings and state agency meetings and assist in the drafting of legislation affecting its members.
Schwarz became a Certified Public Accountant. He is married and has two children.
