New Business To Serve Healthcare Industry Coming to Gloucester County

(Washington Twp., NJ) -Gloucester County Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney and Freeholder Joseph A. Brigandi, Jr. announced today that JVK Operations Ltd. will be converting a vacant building into a high-tech healthcare laundry facility servicing the southern New Jersey region.  The business will bring 75 new jobs to Gloucester County.

JVK Operations Ltd completed a transaction on June 11, 2010 to purchase the property located at 521 Black Horse Pike, Washington Township, and convert a 35,000 square foot formerly vacant building into the high-tech healthcare laundry facility.  They will invest $4M into retrofitting the building and fitting it with equipment.

Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney said that the Gloucester County Department of Economic Development worked with JVK Operations to identify properties, facilitate permitting and obtain state financing.  JVK was approved for a Business Employment Incentive Program (BEIP grant) by the NJEDA for the creation of the 75 jobs, with an average salary of $35,000 per year.  It also partnered in financing this project with Susquehanna Bank.

"Gloucester County has seen an explosion of new medical services, specialists, clinics and state-of-the-art hospitals.  Ancillary service industries for healthcare are a very sustainable market and the county is very happy that JVK Operations has selected Washington Township for their new facility," stated Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney.

Freeholder Joseph A. Brigandi, Jr. said that the Department of Economic Development works on business development and retention throughout the year.  "Creating jobs and tax ratables are a priority for Gloucester County.  Businesses development and retention is one of the main focuses our Department of Economic Development, we work to bring good paying jobs that keep our residents working," Brigandi said.

Mike Connell, a partner of JVK Operations said that he lived in South Jersey and was excited about the opportunity to bring the healthcare laundry service to the region.  "We have had a very positive experience working with Gloucester County, NJEDA and Susquehanna Bank.  We are looking forward to being a good corporate neighbor and providing economic growth in the county."

JVK Operations Ltd is a new company incorporated to establish a brand new, commercial-scale linen laundry facility.  The owners already have a similar, successful operation in Long Island, New York. They specialize in cleaning and processing linens, scrubs, and uniforms for the health-care industry. Their existing New York business employs about 72 people full-time employees and serves thirty-two hospitals.

The new operation is expected to be operational by the end of summer 2010.  JVK Operations will be working with the Gloucester County One-Stop to fill positions.
