Demonstration of Large-Flow Firefighting Equipment Pumps 5,000 to 10,000 Gallons per Minute to Suppress Large Fires

WHAT:  Press conference with state officials, Gloucester County officials, firefighters, emergency response personnel to demonstrate a high-tech, modular large-flow firefighting system being purchased by the state to improve county and regional capabilities to fight chemical and oil-based fires.  The system can also be used to transport potable water up to one mile and to pump out flood waters.
WHERE: Rivergate Park, Center and 2nd Sts., West Deptford, NJ (directions attached).
WHY:   Two identical Neptune pumping systems have been purchased for Northern New Jersey with federal homeland security funds.  The Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness and the Dept. of Community Affairs are partnering to provide state funds for this equipment to serve Gloucester County and South Jersey.

- A truck carrying a mile-long, one-foot diameter hose;
- Contingents of firefighters and emergency personnel.

From the North Via Rt. I-295

Follow I-295 Southbound to Exit 21; make a right off of the exit (at the bottom of ramp) onto Red Bank Ave. Continue on Red Bank Ave. past the traffic signal at Hessian Ave. (Bill & Eileen’s Market) and continue about 10 blocks to Second St. (Not the second street after Hessian). Make a left onto Second St. and proceed up to Center St. Make a right, and the Rivergate Park will be at the end of Center Street.

From the South Via Rt. I-295

Follow I-295 Northbound to Exit 21; make a left off of the exit (at the bottom of ramp) onto Red Bank Ave.  Continue on Red Bank Ave. past the traffic signal at Hessian Ave. (Bill & Eileen’s Market) and continue about 10 blocks to Second Street. Make a left onto Second St. and proceed up to Center St. Make a right, and the Rivergate Park will be at the end of Center Street.
 
From the West (Via Rts. 45 and 47 )

Follow Red Bank Ave. (Westbound) through the City of Woodbury and continue under the overpass of Rt. 295. Continue on Red Bank Ave. past the traffic signal at Hessian Ave. (Bill & Eileen’s Market) and continue about 10 blocks to Second Street. Make a left onto Second St. and proceed up to Center St. Make a right and the Rivergate Park will be at the end of Center Street.
