(Sewell) - Gloucester County Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney and Freeholder Joseph Brigandi, Jr. announced today that the Gloucester County Superintendent of Schools Office will host a Youth Art Month Reception displaying the artwork of area student artists.
March has been designated Youth Art Month in New Jersey and student art will be displayed at the Gloucester County Superintendent of Schools Office from March 3rd until the end of March.
Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney said, "We are proud to have so many talented students participate in this event each year and this exhibit is all about how the community can honor our youth and appreciate their talent."
"The students and their artwork emphasize the value of art education," Freeholder Brigandi said. "Gloucester County students are encouraged to participate in arts programs in many different forums throughout the year. This exhibit will be a showplace for their creative talents, and the reception is the community's time to appreciate our students' creativity and allow them to shine as stars," stated Brigandi. Freeholder Brigandi serves as liaison to Education in Gloucester County.
This year Gloucester County's art teachers are pleased to be working in conjunction with County Superintendent, Dr. Mark Stanwood, to present this year's show. Over 100 pieces of art work from students throughout the county have been submitted for display.
The opening reception will be held on Friday, March 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gloucester County Superintendent of Schools, 1492 Tanyard Road, in Sewell. Freeholder Deputy Director Damminger will attend the reception to acknowledge the students and their teachers.
Student art work will be on display until the end of March. The reception is opened to the public.
