2020 Jonas Cattell Run and Fort Mercer 5K winners
(National Park, NJ)–On Sunday, Oct. 25, Gloucester County celebrated the 51st Anniversary of the 10-mile run Jonas Cattell embarked on to warn the soldiers of Fort Mercer at Red Bank that over 1,200 Hessian soldiers were approaching to take over the fort during the Revolutionary War.
Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, "The 10-mile Jonas Cattell run is a tradition within our county. The race recognizes the efforts of Jonas Cattell during the revolutionary war to warn our soldiers by having participants run his path from Haddonfield to Fort Mercer."
Freeholder Jim Lavender, Liaison to the Department of Parks and Recreation said, “The 2020 races were full of great competition. We are proud of all 185 runners who took part in another year of celebrating Gloucester County’s history.
Awards were presented to runners, who were divided into categories by age.
