"Meet Your Freeholder" Nights Scheduled at the County Store

(Deptford, NJ) The Gloucester County Board of Freeholders will now hold evening hours at the County Store located on the second-level of the Deptford Mall.  The Gloucester County Store, which opened on August 1st, has already proven a popular location for residents to receive passports, senior services, veterans services, identification cards and more.

We know people are coming into the store because the Clerks Office has already issued over 1,000 passports since we opened in August, said Freeholder Director Sweeney.  Their numbers far exceeded what we anticipated for the first two months and we know that the Gloucester County store will only receive more visitors and residents looking for county services and information, stated Sweeney.

Freeholder Director Sweeney said that the Freeholder Board saw an opportunity to make themselves even more accessible to citizens by holding hours at the Deptford Mall location.

As Freeholders we always make time for constituents, but what is to say that constituents have time in their busy lives to tell us what is on their minds?  Now when residents are in the Deptford Mall and doing their shopping, they will have the opportunity to come into the County Store and speak directly to a Freeholder, said Sweeney.

The new program is just getting underway and more dates will be advertised as they are scheduled.  To date the following Freeholders are scheduled to be at the County Store:

Monday, October 17th from 6 pm to 7 pm, Freeholder Joseph A. Brigandi, Jr.
Tuesday, October 25TH from 6 pm to 7 pm, Freeholder Helene Reed
Wednesday, October 26th from 5:30 pm to 7 pm, Freeholder Bill Krebs
Wednesday, November 30TH from 6pm to 7 pm, Freeholder Helene Reed

We are very proud of the County Stores early success, said Freeholder Warren Wallace who coordinated this project to help increase the awareness of county services. We new that the Clerks Office would sell enough passports to pay the rent on the store for the year, but when we learned he would accomplish in the first ninety days of the Stores existence, we were very pleased, stated Wallace.  Freeholder Wallace said that Clerk Hogan, his staff and the countys department have worked extremely well together to deliver government services during non-traditional hours.

The Clerk has processed 1,043 passports and 169 county identification cards since we opened the County Store in the Deptford Mall and he has not seen any decline in any of his other locations.  That proves to all of us that this government service station was truly a need of our residents and we hope to offer more services as we move forward, stated Freeholder Wallace.

The Gloucester Count Store is opened from 10 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 5:30 pm on Saturday.
