GCIT celebrates 4th annual FCCLA Food Festival

(Sewell, NJ) On Friday, Nov. 1 Gloucester County Institute of Technology's (GCIT) Culinary Arts Department in partnership with the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) hosted the 4th annual Food Festival on the GCIT campus. The event included several student-run competitive events including cake decorating, cupcake decorating, a food truck contest, and the luncheon showcase. 

The food truck contest allowed culinary student teams to showcase their artistic skills by designing a food truck and creating food. For the second year in a row, GCIT Culinary Arts teachers showcased their own culinary skills in a teacher-only food truck competition.  

Freeholder Deputy Director Frank J. DiMarco said, "The annual FCCLA Food Festival is a great, interactive way to raise money for a good cause. All proceeds raised during the event benefitted the FCCLA, allowing attendees to enjoy delicious food while helping a great organization." 

"The event was fun way for GCIT culinary students to show off their skills, compete with each other, and have an overall enjoyable time in the process," added DiMarco. 

Attendees were given the opportunity to sample local food including Anthony's Creative Italian Cuisine, Hearthside, Ry's Bagels, Tacconelli’s Pizzeria, Blue Plate, Arctic Wolf Water, Carolina Blue, Liscio’s Bakery, The Gentle Giant Café, and ShopRite.
