Battleship New Jersey comes to Gloucester County Library

(Mullica Hill, NJ)- Gloucester County Freeholder Director Stephen M. Sweeney and Freeholder Bill Krebs announced that the Mullica Hill branch of the Gloucester County Library System (GCLS) will host a series of three programs about the Battleship New Jersey.

"Staff members from 'Big J' will discuss the ship's important role in America's military history during this series," said Freeholder Director Sweeney. Director Sweeney said that the presentations will include artifacts from the ship and the personal reminiscences of crew members.

"We live in a location rich with culture and living history," said Freeholder Director Sweeney. "Learning about the Battleship New Jersey from its staff and crew members will be a wonderful experience for anyone who attends this program," said Sweeney.

The programs will be held on:

Thursday, September 15th at 7pm - The Battleship New Jersey in World War II.

Thursday, October 20th at 7pm - The Battleship New Jersey in Korea.

Thursday, November 17 at 7pm - The Battleship New Jersey in Viet Nam.

Freeholder Krebs, liaison to the Gloucester County Library System, said that the county's library is always bringing programming that interests the community and brings people together. "Gloucester County's Library System is in many ways the town center of the 21st century. We are able to provide many services and programs beyond conventional book-lending that get folks together to learn about history, enjoy our music programs and do just about anything that brings people together in a community," said Freeholder Krebs. "I am proud of the GCLS and the quality of programs that they coordinate for our residents, and these programs are free and open to the general public," Freeholder Krebs stated.
