Gloucester County joins Best Friends Animal Society’s Network

(Clayton, NJ) - Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Dan Christy announced today that the Gloucester County Animal Shelter is now an active partner in national animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society’s Best Friends® Network* which offers help and support to animal rescue groups that save lives in their communities.

Director Damminger said, “Being part of this powerful grassroots coalition will enhance our ability to find the animals in the Shelter’s care loving homes. Through our affiliation we will have opportunities for grants, staff training, animal rescue partnerships, outreach events and more.”

Dan Christy, Freeholder Liaison to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter said, “Best Friends granted our shelter a scholarship so that over the last summer we were able to send two of our staff to their National Conference. The staff had the opportunity to learn from some of the country's top animal welfare experts, and came back with great ideas for our shelter about working with volunteer organizations and different fostering groups.”

The Gloucester County Animal Shelter mission is to ensure the humane treatment of animals and promote the humane treatment of all animals in the county. Last year 217 dogs and 483 cats have been adopted through the Gloucester County Animal Shelter.
