Florist celebrates 70 years in business

(Glassboro, NJ)  -- Gloucester County Freeholder Heather Simmons, Liaison to Economic Development, presented a proclamation to Bob McLaughlin, owner of Rosebud Floral Design in Glassboro and Pitman, on the celebration of their 70th year in business.  The celebration was held on Nov. 2, 2017.

Bob McLaughlin's mother and aunt, Josephine and Rachel Battaglia, opened their own store in Paulsboro, NJ in 1946. Josephine forged ahead to open her own store in Pitman in 1948, and named it Rosebud Florist.  Josephine’s son Robert joined the business in 1995 and assumed ownership when his mother retired in 1999, re-naming the business Rosebud Floral Art in 2010. As the business grew, Robert opened a second location in Glassboro, NJ, across the street from his mother’s childhood home and the location of his grandfather’s butcher shop, Glassboro Meat Market on High Street. A neighborhood fire damaged the High Street shop within four months of opening, and Robert relocated Rosebud Floral Art to its current location at 370 North Delsea Drive in Glassboro, where the business has continued to flourish along with the original shop in Pitman
