County receives $350,000 for Culvert Replacement and Repair project in West Deptford Township

(West Deptford, NJ) -- Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Heather Simmons announced today that Gloucester County applied for and will receive a $350,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation to replace and repair a culvert in West Deptford Township.

The project will include replacing the existing culvert next to the railroad crossing on Ogden Station Road (County Route 648), and lining the existing culvert next to the overpass to the New Jersey Turnpike on Parkville Station Road (County Route 656).

Director Damminger said, "Receipt of this funding is an example of our commitment to maintaining the County roadway system in a safe, cost effective, and environmentally responsible manner.  The county applied for this grant to fix this culvert to avoid sinkholes and deterioration of the roadway."

Simmons, Liaison to Public Works said, "These funds are provided through the Local Aid Infrastructure Fund program and help improve our transportation projects without burdening the taxpayers.”

The work on Ogden Station Road will include pavement removal and replacement, culvert excavation and replacement, support for the existing force main pipe, embankment and stream stabilization, removal and replacement of existing guide rail and all roadway markings, including the railroad markings.

The work on Parkville Station Road will include lining the existing 60” culvert, removing existing pipe flumes, constructing new slope and installation of new guide rail.

The project is scheduled for this summer's construction season.
