Taliaferro Named 2014 Vision Awards Honoree

(Voorhees, NJ) – Gloucester County Freeholder Adam J. Taliaferro will be the recipient of the 2014 Vision Award at the Annual Vision Awards Banquet this Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Mansion on Main Street in Voorhees Township.

Emerald Vision Community Development Corporation sponsor, among many charitable acts, the Youth Mentoring Program and contribute to the Coulby Gunther Scholarship, will present the award.

The Gunther Scholarship awards an annual $10,000 scholarship based on academic excellence and need. Students receiving the scholarship have attended Georgetown University, Drexel University, Howard University, Johnson & Wales University and the University of Pennsylvania. Over a $100,000 has been awarded.

“Our honorees have made a meaningful impact in the lives of many,” stated Eartha Holland, Executive Director of Emerald Vision CDC. “In choosing our recipients, we endeavor to select those persons that have exemplified outstanding achievements and contributions in the community and Adam meets that criteria and more,” Holland said.

Freeholder Taliaferro said he is honored to be chosen for the Vision award.  “Whenever I am able to give something back I will, whether through public service, or to a student by helping raise money for a scholarship.  So many people in my life gave so much for me to be here today, that I always want to help in any way I can,” stated Taliaferro.

A volunteer board sponsors the Awards Banquet that usually sells out each year.  For more information about the Banquet call (856) 767-5423.
