Best of Gloucester County Contest Underway

(Woodbury, NJ) – With 75 categories from which to choose, Gloucester County residents can vote for their favorite caterer, chiropractor, car wash or candy store ‘the best’ as part of this year’s Best of Gloucester County contest.

The Best of Gloucester County contest runs through April 22, 2013 and will culminate with an awards ceremony on May 30 at Auletto’s Catering at 5:30 pm.  The annual contest is designed to promote small businesses in the community and has traditionally brought in thousands of ballots.

Freeholder Director Robert M. Dammingersaid, “The Best of Gloucester County contest generated over 15,000 ballots last year and it is very exciting for our small businesses to participate in this good natured competition to win bragging rights for the next 365 days that they are the best of the county.”

This year the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce has joined the County Board of Freeholders and the South Jersey Times as a sponsor of the annual Best of Gloucester County contest.

“We launched our own Shop Local promotion last year in coordination with the national event and it was a tremendous success.  The impact study we conducted after the event showed that 84% of businesses and customers viewed Shop. Dine. Go Local as something they want to see more of in the future.  We work hand in hand with the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce to help promote our businesses, so it was a natural partnership to work with the Chamber on this contest,” said Freeholder Heather Simmons, Liaison to Economic Development in Gloucester County.

Les Vail, President of the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce said, “The Chamber is thrilled to be partnering on the Best of Event.  Bringing this event under the Shop. Dine. Go Local. Campaign has helped us to continue the momentum of promoting small business throughout the year.
