County Offering Smoke Detectors Through Corporate Partnerships
(Woodbury, NJ) – Atlantic City Electric has added 130 smoke detectors that are now available to Gloucester County residents in need of a new, working smoke detector. Several smoke detectors for the hearing impaired and batteries for smoke detectors are also available.
“We want to make sure our residents have what they need to maintain a safe home. A working smoke detector with working batteries can mean the difference between life and death,” said Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger.
“The county periodically receives smoke detectors through various donations and we want to make sure they are getting out to those who need them,” Damminger said. “I encourage anyone in need of a smoke detector or a replacement battery to take advantage of this program and contact the Gloucester County Fire Marshall’s Office.”
Freeholder Deputy Director Giuseppe ‘Joe’ Chila, Liaison to Public Safety, expressed his gratitude to Gloucester County’s partners in this program: “Bert” Lopez, Public Affairs Manager of Atlantic City Electric, who was on hand for the donation, and to Operation 6 Save a Life Smoke Detector Campaign.
“We don’t want our residents to have to scrimp on safety and the free smoke detectors and batteries can be a life saver,” Chila said. “The county works closely with many organizations that provide residents assistance and every little bit helps. We are grateful for our partners,” stated Deputy Director Chila.
The smoke detectors for hearing impaired utilize flashing lights to signal an activated detector. Anyone who is in need of smoke detector, batteries, or has questions about fire safety should contact the Gloucester County Fire Marshall’s Office at 307-7100.
