Mission of the Technical Services Unit
The Technical Services Unit provides technical support to both the Prosecutor's Office Investigative Division and any requesting outside law enforcement agency. The unit installs, operates and maintains standard and covert video and audio electronic surveillance equipment, as well as managing the National Crime Information Computer System.
All requests for the installation of audio/video equipment are channeled through the Technical Services Unit in a prescribed format on departmental stationary.
The signature of the unit or department head must be affixed to the request. Once it has been determined that the installation can be logistically completed, the request is forwarded to the County Prosecutor or the First Assistant Prosecutor for a legal determination. Operational and logistical meetings are held and the equipment is scheduled for installation. Once the installation is completed, the Technical Services Unit will maintain the equipment during the operation and then remove all the equipment when the investigation is completed.
