Summer Programs

Nature Detectives 
Scotland Run Park
Monday through Friday, 9am to 12pm
Fee: $100 per week

Campers will be immersed in a fun and active nature camp experience, with both structured activities and time for unstructured, self-led downtime and exploration. The theme of the week is explored through various art, activities, games, experiments, and observation each day, with opportunities to further delve into subjects and activities that campers are drawn to. Each week includes a tour of our newly renovated Nature Center. Please pack a lunch, reusable water bottle, sunblock and insect repellent, a hat, and a change of shoes and clothing.

July 6-10 N-1
Entering 1st and 2nd grade 
Exploring Nature at Scotland -Learn about nature at Scotland Run Park and Wilson Lake. What clues does nature leave for us? We'll use observations of sight and sound, along with technology, to help us identify local species. Campers will learn about the ecosystem through hands on exploration. Get ready to hike the trails on our 1100 acre park and explore the banks of Wilson Lake.

July 13-17 N-2
Entering 3rd and 4th grade
SRP Eco Camp—Learn about the ecosystems at SRP and the creatures that live here, while hiking through the park. What role do native plants play in healthy habitat? What do our native animals need to survive in our changing world? What can we do to ensure the success of our natural world? Campers will use scientific inquiry to investigate ecosystems and develop a greater understanding of the interconnectedness of the natural world.

August 3-7 N-3
Entering 5th through 8th grade
Junior Scientists—Learn how real life scientists study the environment! Campers will run experiments, use scientific instruments, and collect their own data. See some of the projects that are in place at Scotland Run Park and interact with Rowan University Professors and other local science professionals. Get ready to hike and paddle across our 1100 acre nature park.

August 10-14 N-4
Entering 1st through 4th grade

Summer Theater

Children will be given the opportunity to develop a basic understanding, and appreciation of, the performing arts. Instruction, games, exercises and improvisation will be included. Emphasis will be on acting skills. Every child will have the opportunity to perform. The directors will select the roles. The workshop will include the preparation for performances. Admittance to all performances is free.

This program is made possible in part by funding from The Gloucester County Cultural and Heritage Commission at Rowan College at Gloucester County, a partner of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Boys/Girls, entering 3rd grade through 6th grade
Classes A-1 and A-2 will be divided into separate groups. One group will prepare a short musical; the other group will prepare a one-act play. Five weeks of instruction/rehearsal.

History Camp

A one-of-a-kind experience for youngsters entering 2nd through 6th grades. Watch History come alive! Come join us for a week of hands-on Colonial history. See what it was like to be a child during the 1700's. Enjoy days full of games and activities. Bring a lunch.
